MODERN WARFARE 2 GAMEPLAY FOOTAGE LEAKED AHEAD OF POSSIBLE JUNE REVEAL

May 19, 2022

Earlier this month Infinity Ward confirmed that the new Call of Duty game for 2022 would be Modern Warfare 2, a follow up to the 2019 Modern Warfare reboot. Now as we slowly approach the big reveal we’re getting more and more leaks with details about the new game.

From specifics on the rumoured DMZ mode which is set to bring qualities of Escape From Tarkov, to more recently further details on what to expect from Warzone 2.

The latest leak, however, is more substantial, as it’s the first proper footage of the game in question, albeit with some incredibly grainy footage. Some fans have also reported sharing the footage on Twitter, only to be struck with DMCA strikes, which is normally a good indication that the footage is legit. But quite why all leaked footage in 2022 continues to be this blurry is anyone’s guess, but here it is, in all its 144p glory

As you can see, it doesn’t really give much (read: anything) away, but it could indicate that we’re not too far off a full reveal for the game itself.

Notable Call of Duty leaker TheGhostOfHope has recently suggested on Twitter that according to their sources, a Modern Warfare 2 reveal trailer could release on June 2, which is only two weeks away.

Our last big clue regarding what to expect came from Modern Warfare’s animation reveal, which also seemed to include a series of coordinates – 1.3521° N. 103.8198° E. As pointed out by renowned leaker Tom Henderson, these coordinates appear to point towards a location in Singapore. More specifically, the location seems to be the resort and luxury hotel at Marina Bay Sands.

Henderson went on to suggest that he’s seen an ‘early’ image from the game and noted it included a soldier repelling down the side of a glass building. So perhaps something like what we’ve seen previously in Call of Duty Ghosts (see image/Tweet below).

Singapore aside, VGC reports has reported for some time that the Modern Warfare 2 campaign will centre around the drug war against Columbian cartels, which we imagine will be another location we’ll visit.

According to the site, sources have suggested to them that the single-player story will be “a grittier take on Modern Warfare 2019’s campaign”. Likewise, VGC suggests the game will feature “more close-quarters combat, tricky decision making, and the classic Call of Duty set-piece moments”.
