October 6, 2021

It’s spooky season, and that means all your favorite live-service games are setting themselves up for limited-time seasonal events. And of course, Call of Duty Warzone is no different.

Excitingly, this means that The Haunting of Verdansk will return for the second time later this month. Amid modes, maps changes, and scary cosmetics, there is a lot to look forward to. Here’s everything we know about Call of Duty Warzone’s The Haunting event in 2021.

The Haunting will return to Warzone this year, but details so far are slim.

When Does It Start?

Players still have a couple of weeks to wait until The Haunting kicks off. As announced in the official Season 6 roadmap, The Haunting will start on October 19th. The Haunting event will run through November 2nd, which is just a few days before Call of Duty Vanguard is released.

What Kind of Content Can We Expect?

Details on the particulars are scarce for this year’s Call of Duty: Warzone The Haunting event. However, if we look back to last year, we may gain some insight as to how the 2021 version is shaping up.

Nighttime Verdansk will return in this year’s The Haunting, and it may be the last time we get to enjoy the map variant.

In the 2020 event, players got to sink their teeth into a spooky Zombie Royale mode. This saw fights take place on a nighttime version of Verdansk. Unlike in traditional battle royale, death meant that players could come back as leaping zombies. The mode added yet another layer of tension to the battle royale and became an instant fan favorite. This makes it easy to imagine that it will return in The Haunting 2021. Nighttime Verdansk has already been confirmed to return, as a brief teaser for it featured at the end of the Season 6 trailer.

The Haunting was confirmed for the middle of October in Warzone’s Season Six roadmap.

This will also likely be the last opportunity to see a nighttime version of Verdansk. Warzone’s main map is setting itself up for destruction, as the eventual Pacific map introduced within Vanguard’s first season will replace it.

What Kind Of Rewards Can We Expect?

As always with each new event, players will be able to earn and purchase new cosmetic rewards with The Haunting 2021. Much like with Zombie Royale however, Activision hasn’t officially announced any of the unlockable cosmetics. Expect those closer to the date itself.

Last year’s The Haunting brought The Texas Chainsaw massacre’s Leatherface. Who would you like to see this year?

Last year both Leatherface from The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Saw from the Saw franchise, were featured as purchasable skins. We’ll likely see more horror icons introduced with The Haunting 2021, along with some other weapon and outfit cosmetics. Warzone has been on a roll this year with its skins, as characters like John McClane, Rambo, and most recently Judge Dredd have all been introduced, so we can’t wait to see what’s next.
