New details have emerged!
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been officially revealed by Activision-Blizzard on June 8th, 2022 and from what we can tell, this will be the primary COD for the next two years.
With this reveal, they also announced that once again, there will be a beta players will be able to gain access to before the game fully releases.

While at first it seemed like the beta was going to be happen sometime in the middle of August, w know have a confirmed date for when players willbe able to jump into the beta.
There will be two weekends in which players can check out Modern Warfare 2 before the game actually releases, and below are the dates.
Weekend One (PlayStation Exclusive)

- Early Access

- Open Beta for PlayStation
Weekend Two (Crossplay)

September 22-23
- Early Access for Xbox, PC
- Open Beta for PlayStation

- Open beta for all platforms
This is the model that they've followed in recent years, so it comes as no surprise that PlayStation users get first access to the beta.
However, this is plently of time for players to check out MW2 and decide if they want to puchase this year's game.
