ARE ZOMBIES MAKING THEIR WAY TO CALL OF DUTY: WARZONE SEASON 2?

Are Zombies Making Their Way to Call of Duty: Warzone Season 2?

February 16, 2021

The next season for Call of Duty: Warzone is sneaking upon us.  It appears that Season 1 will come to an end sometime around February 24th, 2021, and Season 2 will kick off at roughly the same time.  While we don’t have full details on what the second season of Warzone will offer just yet, there are some in-game teasers that heavily hint at a major twist.  If the hidden Easter eggs and other secrets are to be believed, it seems that zombies are soon going to invade the world of Warzone.

The first hint of incoming zombie content surfaced on February 11th via the Warzone rumble playlist.  Those who visited the hospital location on the map were surprised to see the Cold War Zombies trial machine waiting inside for them.  Over in Zombies mode, this machine lets players exchange points in order to activate challenges and rewards.  As of right now, the machine isn’t doing anything in Warzone, other than spitting out an “ACTIVATE ZOMBIES” message.  Players have been trying to start the machine or glean other details from it, but so far the code hasn’t been cracked.  There’s also a sticky note on the machine that reads, “Prove yourself, to the victor, so the spoils.”  As with the machine’s appearance itself, the meaning behind this note is still a mystery.

The Zombies trial machine isn’t the only odd finding in Warzone, though.  Players have been noticing random bits of static and white noise effects popping up on their screens.  This interference is sometimes accompanied by faint voices or Morse code.  The Warzone super fans on Reddit got to quick work deciphering these messages, and Redditor Wolf-of-icewrack came up with the following.

“Dispatch, this is Russian ship Vodianoy, channel 1-2. Over.

“This is dispatch, requesting shipping permit to Verdansk. Over.

“Dispatch, cargo secured, all systems are fine. Get ready to go. Over.”

It’s likely that the shipment being discussed is Nova 6, a biochemical weapon used during the later years of World War II and early in the Cold War.  It’s also worth noting that canisters of Nova 6 were spotted on the Zombies map “Five” in  Call of Duty: Black Ops.  There are definitely ties to Nova 6 and Zombies content, but again, the full picture on this is yet to come into view.

Finally, a number of computer monitors across the Warzone map are broadcasting random numbers and letters.  No one has been able to find a solution to these codes yet, so either there’s a puzzle left unsolved, or Activision needs to share more clues before this content makes sense.

That’s all there is as far as Season 2 of Warzone goes for now, but it seems clear that Zombies will be shambling their way over at some point.  Activision clearly has many more puzzles, clues, and teases to share, and players will be digging into all of it as we head towards February 24th.  Hopefully, operators can crack the code and get a full sneak peek of what’s to come before Season 1 ends.
